apparently people look at these internets

I am a big user of Google Reader, they are constantly tweaking their suggestion formula (trying to get you better news feeds and websites to follow). I was searching for different feeds and then searched for my name. I guess what happens is that Google Reader searches for every post it “follows” and returned a post that had my name in it.

So, my name showed up on a blog called: “Tengo un Mac” or Mac Boy. I’m pretty sure its in Spanish – I did take 17 hours of that language in college, you’d think I’d at least be able to recognize it. So, with a little help from the helpful (usually more helpful than this) Yahoo Babelfish, here is a translation of the main post on the blog:

Not very well like approaching the subject, the case is that it was thinking, in raising, we sporadically say to a photo of girls mac, you already know to that I talk about, and good for finding them, is not very complicated and seems that to all we like Sure, it is necessary to put itself in the place of any girl, who has the good taste to use mac, or to visit our page, is to imagine that from time to time it would like to see some boy in TUM, so, I have put myself to look for, and the unique thing that I have found to be this: Something that really lacks pleasure. So from, and if some macquera girl it must some proposal here that do, above where it puts collaborates or in the commentaries, has total freedom to send some photo that seems to him interesting and believes that it can cheer the day to the rest of girls. I hope that to all and all it seems to you well, although am certainly the number of visits is mainly masculine, reason why it is seen in the commentaries, some macquera girl must have.

Indeed. So, either babelfish really sucks at translating this guy’s writing or we’ve stumbled upon the a Spanish Mr. South Carolina (you know the Iraq map girl). So, I enter the story with the first comment which says (with some help from babelfish):

Ah because it watches this that handsome!

And this person “luculo” says the above and links to a picture of my son Sam using my old macbook.

Now, personally I think Sam is the most handsome and most interesting boy in the world. But the question does arise – what do followers of Spanish Macintosh blogs think of Sam? And, more importantly why in the world are they even looking at my pictures on Flickr?

So, the other comments weighed in on the original thought provoking post – and the picture of Sam. Here are their thoughts (with no help at all from babelfish)

Carlos says “that happened of baby… To post of head…”

Jon says “To veeeer, and for the part of the masculine sector that we want to see “Mac boys”? : p then that jejeje” (That one had me kind of worried)

Finally wendypan comments that: “I meet more girls you macerate that small… My “study of market” reveals that mac prevailed the section small more than the one over girls”

So, what have we learned form this experience:

  • People will look at your pictures on Flickr and creepily post them on blogs you don’t understand.
  • Babelfish sucks
